The Nordic Support, Inc. has three pillars to its strategic plan. The first pillar is
focused on the marketing and fundraising needed to increase world-wide viewership and
enhancing immediate potential for sponsorship opportunities. The second pillar is focused on
providing support to the highest performing men and women Nordic Combined athletes in the
United States with an emphasis on the inclusion of women in the Olympic roster in 2030 and
achieving Olympic top results in the 2026 Olympics in Italy, 2030 games in France, and when
the Olympics return to Salt Lake City in the United States in 2034. The third pillar is focused on
supporting and sustaining Nordic Combined in the United States, helping individual clubs with
their junior athlete development.

In the United States most of the funding for all ski sports is generated and distributed through
the National Governing Body (NGOB) US Ski and Snowboard. From a funding distribution
standpoint, nearly all of the funding gravitates to alpine disciplines. Currently, national
governance of Nordic Combined athletes is fragmented. While historically there has been
limited funding for Nordic Combined, for the 2024-25 season, all funding for Nordic Combined
has been eliminated. Athletes and National Team members as of 2024 has been completely
eliminated. Additionally, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has indicated the future of
Nordic Combined skiing at the World Cup and Olympic level faces viewership, sponsorship and
financial challenges, so much so that unless this paradigm can be changed, the sport of Nordic
Combined faces extinction in the Olympic Games.
While some new Nordic Combined start-up organizations are emerging with hopes to help
generate immediate funding for top level athletes, most of these attempts to generate funding
have not been successful enough. Many young athletes who have made incredible sacrifices
and dedicated their entire lives to training and achieving Olympic and World-Cup results are
faced with the immediate funding issues and the challenge of preserving their sport in the
Olympics.
Yes. Historically the US has been very strong on the World Cup stage and in Olympic
competitions with five time Olympian Billy Demong winning the Olympic gold medal in
Vancouver in 2010 along with fellow athlete and six time Olympian Todd Lodwick who won the
team Silver medal in the Team Event, and Johnny Spillane winning two silver medals and also a
silver in the team event at the Vancouver Olympics in 2010.
NSI is unique and is the only non-profit organization supporting Nordic Combined with a
three-point comprehensive plan that addresses the funding and viewership challenges first.
NSI will accomplish this by implementing marketing and fundraising strategy starting with an
emphasis on increasing awareness, social media, defining sponsorship impact, and strategic
fund-raising.
NSI currently utilizes active Nordic Combined athletes who are competing on the world cup
level as well as accomplished former Olympic and World Cup level athletes and coaches in
shaping and implementing the NSI mission and vision. Increasing awareness, marketing, and
sponsorship impact is a pre-cursor to successful fundraising.
