NORDIC SUPPORT, INC.
At Nordic Support, Inc., our initial mission is to utilize exceptional videography and social media platforms to hit growth and viewership targets set by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to secure the future of Nordic Combined after the next Winter Olympic Games, 2026 that will be held in Italy. We also aim to provide financial support for athletes in pursuit of the world cup, world championships and the Olympics.
Why NSI?
The continuation of Nordic Combined (NC), which is a combination of ski jumping competition and cross country ski racing, is in peril of remaining on the Olympic roster after the 2026 Olympics games that will be hosted by Italy. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) alleges viewership, on a global scale, needs to increase for NC to remain in future Olympics. This task will require funds to create enticing films and short film clips to showcase on social media platforms.
In the United States, US Ski and Snowboard (USSS) is the National Governing Body (NGB) of NC. However, they ceased to financially support NC after the 2011 World Championships, where the USNC Team won a bronze medal in the team relay event. In the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, Bill Demong won a Gold Medal, first ever for USNC, and a silver medal. JohnnySpillane won 2 silver medals. And USNC won a silver medal in the Team event. USNC has demonstrated that they can compete with the best in the world!
The USSS dropped funding and support of NC. Therefore, another entity was formed in 2012, US Nordic Sports (USANS) to support ski jumping and Nordic combined. Last spring, 2024, support and funding was completely dropped for NC. Funding for NC Athletes and National Team members as of 2024 was completely eliminate by US Nordic Sports (USNAS). Additionally, the International Ski Federation (FIS) has clearly stated the future of Nordic Combined skiing in the Olympics, is at great risk of elimination in future Olympics after 2026 unless world-wide viewership and support can be increased.
A new entity was created in June 2024, Nordic Combined USA (NCUSA) to support select NC athletes and to secure coaching contracts. The NSI was founded to lead the mission to increase viewership, and support the other athletes that are also pursuing Nordic Combined but not supported.
The NSI is a 501c3 non-profit organization allowing tax deductible donations.
While these two new start-up organizations are emerging with ambitions to help with the immediate funding issue, fundraising efforts to date have not been successful enough, and are lacking what is needed. The end result of this is that many athletes, who have devoted years of sacrifice and training to achieve their Olympic and World-Cup dreams, are faced with the immediate funding challenges and the challenge of NC remaining in future Olympics.
NC has a rich and established history. The first cross country ski race in the world was in 1842 and the first ski jumping competition was in 1866, long before the first chairlift came to America in 1936. The sport of NC was the first skiing event in the Olympics dating back to 1924.
The solution:
It's about preserving history and the legacy that NC started for winter sports so many years ago, supporting the athletes that are working so hard to hold onto the culture and the pure sportsmanship of NC. It's about creating professional videos to post on social medial, garner subscriptions, sponsorships, increase viewership and provide an avenue for sponsors to promote and sell their products to a new targeted audience. NSI can earn commission percentages. This is a sustainable model in the long run to garner income and not have to depend on so much fundraising dollars year after year.
Funding Goals:
Share our message with your community across social media platforms and marketing our events wherever possible. Our team is available to provide resources and support to help you spread awareness about the importance of the sport and the athletes involved.
The donation and sponsorship options provide opportunities for people to get involved and make a difference in the Olympic Nordic Combined community. Please contact us to ask any questions you may have. We look forward to your valued support!
Together, we can bring the awareness needed to keep Nordic Combined in the Olympics, while simultaneously supporting the athletes working towards their Olympic dreams.
We need your tax-deductible donations to support the athletes, film makers, videographers, editors, and marketers who will showcase and deliver attractive, engaging, valuable content that will bring awareness to this incredible sport and ultimately save Nordic Combined as an Olympic sport in furutre years. If this goal is achieved, we can lobby to have women's Nordic Combined included in future Olympics as well.
We need to quickly raise the funds necessary to facilitate our overall goals above and follow the metrics of the growing profile to meet the IOC viewership targets and continue the inclusion of Nordic Combined in the Olympics. The situation is dire! It’s a late start, but we need to do it and to do it right. This is our best shot to be able to obtain the right videography team to properly bring attention, awareness, and support to this sport.
Thank you very much for your consideration and financial support!
